Vigor 120 firmware change was created by stephenw10
Hi all,
I have recently switched ISPs and am now struggling to get the bandwidth I should be getting.
I was previously under the impression that the modem codes associated with the frimware were related to hardware revisions and as such you had to match what was already installed. I now realise that isn't the case. I hadn't upgraded to the latest firmware since there is no 321311 code version available for 3.2.4.4 but no I realise I can.
I tried upgrading to the standard version but my line speed actually went down. :(

I am very close to the exchange and generally speaking get very high sync speeds.

Is there a list of which modem codes do what? Are the numbers in the codes relavent? Could someone just tell me one to use!

Cheers,
Steve

Re:Vigor 120 (v1) Optimal firmware for variable line quality

As there are about 10 different versions of the current firmware for the 120 depending on modem codes, I too was confused as to which was the optimum option. An email enquiry to Draytek in the UK produced this rapid response which may be of some assistance to you:-

"The modem codes are not specifically for any country / ADSL type,
however the different modem codes will behave differently depending on
line conditions. The 332201 modem code is recommended in the UK
because it achieves a higher speed than other modem codes when using
ADSL2+ connections.
"The 321311 modem code is what we would recommend when the UK
recommended modem code causes disconnections or other issues."

Thanks for that! :)
The actual fault turned out to be unrelated to the modem. Testing the different firmware versions though did change the connection speed and behaviour.

Help! I am struggling to upgrade my firmware on my new Vigor 120.

I am trying to flash with the file v120_3244_332201.all that I downloaded from the Draytek website.

My PC is on 192.168.2.10 and the router is on 192.168.2.1. The web upgrade option results in "Firmware file name is invalid, please check!".

If I use the Firmware Upgrade Utility 3.6.2 (after pressing OK to start the TFTP server in the web portal for the Vigor) then I get "Incorrect/No file name. Transfer Abort!"

I have tried to reset the router to put it into TFTP mode, but I can't seem to do it.

Any help appreciated!

Regards,

Raymond

If you rename the file to "v120_a4_v3244.all" does that get it accepted?
