Misleading telnet information MSS-MTU was created by cameltoe
My ISP Be* recommends an MTU setting of 1500. So I looked online on how to set the MTU and got to

Vigor> wan mtu 1500

However when this is set I type in
Vigor> wan mtu ?

and get the reply
Static IP/DHCP (Max MSS: 1500)
PPPoE(Max MSS: 1492)
PPTP/L2TP(Max MSS: 1460)
% wan ppp_mss
% Now: 1500

But hold on.... isn't the MSS = MTU - 40 and why is it showing MSS when I wanted to set the MTU?
% Now: 1500 is this the mss or the MTU???????

wan ppp_mss will not work with a 2820 or 3200 draytek so this article it incorrect.

what if the mss needs to be 72 less than the mtu ?
