2830n sb problem with a4_3641 was created by replabrobin
We've got a 2830n sb connected via ethernet with firmware a4_363. My boss started to use google hangouts and that seems to hog all the bandwidth for everyone else (we have a nominal 10Mbps wan side ethernet). In desperation I tried upgrading to the latest firmware, but that didn't cure the issue. Additionally we noticed the following oddity with two ubuntu 12.04 machines as the only clients one was downloading 1Mbytes in 1.5-2secs and the other was downloading 1Mbytes in 28-31secs. Swapping the lan ethers over didn't change anything. The only difference I could see was that the fast connection had just one light indicating 100M and the slow one had both lights indicating 1000M. Since the upgrade appeared not to fix the issue and might cause the new problem I downgraded to 363 and things are back to where they were before.

1) is this a recognizable problem?
2) is there a way to control whatever google hangouts is doing to the LAN?

Thanks in advance

Hi ... only posting for the firmware issue ... there is a new out 3.6.6.1 here
ftp://ftp.draytek.com/Vigor2830/Firmware/Single%20band/v3.6.6.1_SB/Vigor2830_sb_v3.6.6.1_AnnexA/
are few improvements & fixes so check the released notes if you think your issue is mentioned before waste time
ftp://ftp.draytek.com/Vigor2830/Firmware/Single%20band/v3.6.6.1_SB/Vigor2830_sb_v3.6.6.1_release_note.pdf
as for which modem code to use 232201 & 2471201 are good for UK lines ... 2471201 may gives you little better speed as well
remember is suggested the *rst* file (this will wipe all settings) during firmware update but if you have many settings to do try a back up before but is not recommended either ... remember or if you are not aware ... using of *all* file or previous back ups ... is risk for carrying with the new firmware previous conflicts/bugs ... so this is the last choice really
