2850, VLAN Tag and DHCP... was created by jm_paulin
How do devices on a VLAN with Tag gets an IP Address? I have set devices on P2 (port 2 on the 2850) to be either part of LAN1 (no tag) or LAN2 (VLAN Tag 11). My WiFi AP (Draytek 700) is plugged into P2 and has 2 SSID,

One with no VLAN Tag (SSID Private)
One with a VLAN Tag 11 (SSID Guest)

I am assuming that devices connecting to SSID Guest will be seen as joining the VLAN Tag 11, and therefore LAN2. The 2850 DHCP Server on LAN2 should then give a LAN2 IP address and that would be it. However:

Devices using `SSID Private` joins LAN1 correctly
Devices using `SSID Guest` never gets an IP address from the LAN2 DHCP Server.

Thanks

So...
LAN > General Setup
LAN 1 = Private Subnet with DHCP on
LAN2 = Guest Subnet with DHCP on

Both are enabled?

LAN > VLAN

VLAN0 P1 ticked P2 ticked P3 empty P4 Empty Subnet = LAN1 if it needs a tag use 1 (default) but don't tick if you don't need to and preference 0
VLAN1 P1 empty P2 ticked P3 empty P4 Empty Subnet = LAN2 Enable Tag 11 Preference 1

You have to have a port tick for each Lan so in VLAN3 and VLAN4 just tick P3 and P4 and leave the rest

On the AP700 give it a Static address on the default LAN

Confgure the 2 SSIDs

Leave the Tag out of SSID1 if you didn't use 1
Put in 11 on SSID 2

this is a Similar network with two subnets and it works fine with both networks on 1 port

Ok,

I checked and double checked, and I have what you described... I changed the priority to 1 on VLAN1/LAN2 (I had 0) that didn't change a thing. I know DHCP is enable on LAN2 because I have a PC connected to a P3 (using VLAN2, no TAG) and I assigned P3 to LAN2, and it gets the right IP address. I did try to assign P3 to VLAN1 (the with with TAG 11) and no IP address that way (hence why I believe there is an issue with VLAN Tag and DHCP. The AP700 is connect to P2 directly.

I could up my router to 3.6.6 (I am running 3.6.4 now) but:
- my experience with Draytek is that you never know what will not be working anymore on a new firmware
- there is nothing related to VLAN TAg in the release note.

Any other thoughts?

Ok.

Just upgraded from 3.6.4 to 3.6.6 using the .all file, and it just worked. had to power off/on the router after the upgrade but it looks like this is the fix.

I would appreciate if Draytek was accurately listing the list of fixes they have in a firmware upgrade.
