Hi,

I've noticed that my EE ADSL connection drops quite frequently...I'm currently using the "Default" DSL Modem Code.

Is there an explanation somewhere of the various DSL Modem Codes available with the 2860n, and what they (effectively) mean?
I've seen general advice for other products, but nothing for the 2860n...

the modem codes for the 2860 can be find at WAN >> General Setup>>DSL Modem Code

The modem codes are for compatibility with different lines/dslam for adsl

The reason is DSLAM in CO site (ISP) may have different DSL brands or different versions. Those may cause interoperability (IOP) issue between DSL modem and DSLAM. For example, DSL cannot synchronize well or cannot get high rate or high performance.

Therefore, we offer different modem codes for customer to try if they meet IOP problem. In general, we suggest using the standard one for most areas should be no problem in working with this version.


Same apply with the 2860

From my experience with a 2760 which has almost same modem codes, the 531a16_533011 should give you less loop attenuator so little better synchronize & as result little better speed but you need to try which one my be better for your line

As for the disconnections check you have the correct parameters from your isp and also try change the filter and also try change the cable from the phone socket going to the 2860

Ah, thanks very much for the explanation and suggestion.

I think my cabling etc. is OK - had a 2820n for a few years without any significant issues with the same ADSL connection.

I'm now giving 531a16_533011 a go to see if that improves things :) .

it may not helps the one i suggested but try with your time & the other modem codes
about cabling i am sure is ok but i suspect the type of cable may causing problem example a cat5e or (twisted pair) designed for rj11 may cost issues compare to a traditional rj11, that is why i sya if you can try an other and also try an other brand adsl filter

Using 531a16_533011 seems to have sorted it - been up for over 2 days now, whereas I was lucky to get a few hours before.
