DrayTek 2830 and BT Fibre (FTCC) was created by mattyh2013
Hi All,

Im currently experiencing problems with a Draytek Vigor 2830 and BT wholesale fibre connect (white modem).

The draytek is plugged into a panasonic phone system that then connects to the bt openreach modem.
This allows the panasonic to use SIP trunks for lines.

What happens is that the draytek losses internet connection and only re connects once I power the router down and then back on.
As soon as its boots back up its finds the internet connection and everything is back to normal.

There is no pattern to the drop outs.

My questions is - why do I have to reset the draytek before it finds the connection again?
Surely the Draytek should find the connection on its own?
Is this likely to be a setting on the draytek or the BT openreach modem?

All the best

If not have already ... try the latest firmware 3.6.6.2 (assuming you have time to set back everything from the begin)... are few corrections but not sure if will help your issue
for single band model here (stating in the firmware version SB)
ftp://ftp.draytek.com/Vigor2830/Firmware/Single%20band/v3.6.6.2_SB/Vigor2830_sb_v3.6.6.2_Annex_A/
for dual band model here (stating in the firmware DB)
ftp://ftp.draytek.com/Vigor2830/Firmware/Dual%20band/v3.6.6.2_DB/Vigor2830_db_v3.6.6.2_AnnexA/

If you have & the 5G band (wifi) then you have the dual band model ... you need to use the *rst* file where will set back to factory defaults but it makes a clean installation

The DrayTek Firmware Version is currently : 3.6.4.1

Is there much of a difference ?

Taking the infos from the SB model (but both fixes are about the same for both models sb & db) then yes few improvements since are 3 firmwares forward ... but if you don't have the time for using the *rst* file ... then maybe better leave it as it is... only suggested in the case you don't have to set much settings from the begin

Thank you.

I have updated the firmware to the latest but the drop still happens.

I have spoken to the draytek support team who advised we could try setting the WAN 2 Physical type to 100M full duplex, rather than auto negotiate.

Does this sound about right?

because you have the phones can not helps with this but for wan 2 should be
(disable wan 1 & usb-wan 3 if not using it ... WAN >> General Setup>enable no)

WAN >> General Setup>wan 2 > enable yes> always on
try auto navigation or 100 full duplex as the support suggested ... it could make difference yes
VLAN Tag insertion enable and set tag value 101 ... if will make any difference (not sure on that but worth to try)
active mode: always on

now go at WAN >> Internet Access>details page and set the correct user name from your isp (ask at their forums) ... pppoe tab should be in use

now telenet the router (after you have enable telnet at System Maintenance >> Management>LAN Access Control and telnet the command (after you log in) "wan2 mtu 1492) then enter button ... or "wan 2 mtu 1492)
