Is the heat killing the routers? was created by flash2
I've had two Draytek routers die on me over the last 5 years, and I've just replaced with a 2860n+.

As I was about to vertically wall mount the new one like the others, I wondered if the lack of vents at the side where the aerials protrude is causing a heat build up at the top, which may be aging my router circuit board prematurely?

Just wondered if anyone else has noticed vertically wall mounted routers are living shorter lives than horizontal ones?

TIA

I think the units are rated for ambient temps up to 40 degrees and it's not that hot in the
UK and the units are designed to be wall mounted. I'm assuming this is in a normal room,
not a hot closet etc.

It is a normal room. Seems odd that there are no vents on the top near the aerials, and that is clearly where heat collects.
