2925n DualWAN DNS conflict issues? was created by shaneoh1980
Hi all,

Recently purchased a new Vigor 2925n. The whole reason for getting it is that on our office we have a new fibre connection along with our existing EFM connection and we wanted to run both together in one router.

All configuration was copied from our previous routers. For a couple of weeks we had the fibre running through a 2850 and the EFM through a 2860. No problems.

This morning after configuring the 2925n for each line and testing each one separately, finally plugged both in at the same time. Everything up, great, no issues for about two hours. As soon as more people arrived at work we started having all sorts of DNS loss on our clients. It started with one which was really bad, then others who were already connected starting losing their connections. Eventually I had to disconnect the fibre connection and we are now back where we started.

I'm sure there is some kind of config setting I need to change but I just can't think what. If each connection works perfectly in the 2925n when it is the only one, but they don't work when both connected, what am I missing?

Thanks.

for load balancing 2 lines, see here

For your issue with dns, i think the cure is @ Lan > General setup > details page to add manually some dns that works good for both connections
Then go back @ Lan > General setup & tick the force router to use dns at Lan (1)

I already had Google DNS in there (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4), but did not have the box ticked. I've done that now. I won't be able to test it for a few days as I need to wait for an empty office. But it seems like the connection is still iffy even now, using just the fibre line. It's complicated by the fact that I seem to be having Chrome issues I've never had before - like Google searches not working, bizarrely.
