2860 series routing question was created by enfopaul
Hi,

I'm looking to purchase 2860n+ router and reading through the user guide I see that it is possible to have up to six different subnets. In the example configuration it uses different draytek vigors for each subnet. What I would like to know is would it be possible to define a couple of subnets and route between them without separate routers?

e.g. on port 1, configure subnet 192.168.1.0 /24
on port 2, configure subnet 192.168.2.0 /24
on port 3, configure subnet 192.168.3.0 /24

LAN port 1-3 would be configured with a static IP, e.g. 192.168.1.254, 192.168.2.254, 192.168.3.254.

The above addresses would then be used as default gateways to configure static routes between each subnet.

What I am trying to achieve is to setup a lab network lab environment which needs to have more than one subnet. Ideally, each subnet would also be able to use the router as it's gateway to the internet. Does anyone know if this kind of setup is possible?

Thanks in anticipation of assistance.

Regards,

EnfoPaul

I have been able to do exactly this with a 2920 and a 3200.

Although I could only do this with 4 subnets/DHCP servers on the above so assume it would be similar on the 2860 looking at the screenshots on the website.

I was able to route more subnets through the gateways but this required additional hardware.
