I know posting in wishlist is a little futile, but I do wish draytek would make drayos/firmware open source.

I'm sure draytek would sell lots more routers if enthusiasts were able to fix and augment the firmware. Far more powerfull than waiting for the odd firmware release that often disappoints.

Relatively few I'd guess. The commercial downsides would never be economical.

You be suprised how many routers out there are based on open source.

How about publishing the layout of the config files, so we can our own program to centrally maintain config, and share config etc.

"Based" on open source is a different kettle of fish. If a mfr. buys an off the shelf processor and downloads some code form Usenet to make a router then they might be required to release sources. That's not the same as releasing proprietary IP into the public domain.

Have a number (5) of Linksys NSLU2s that I've "hacked" (and are working well) but my router(s) are running stock Draytek firmware (and are working well)
BUT, I do have a "surplus" of older Draytek routers that I'm sure could be more useful...
When you look at some of the great work that the "hacking community" has done though, it does make me wonder.....
