Router local DNS resolve of lan ip addresses. was created by commplete
Our 2Wire router has a feature where we can define a name and and ip for it to resolve.
For example mail.mydomain.com >> 192.168.1.10
Pinging mail.mydomain.com would reply 192.168.1.10 of the local mail server.
A DNS resolve name/ip table would be, for us, a usefull feature on the Vigor 2820.

Yep, I'm looking for this feature too in a 2950. My home ADSL modems (old Speedtouch and new Zyxel) can do this.
Cheers,
Colin

I too would find the feature very useful and was more than a little disappointed to discover my new vigor 2820n did offer this important feature.

It would be nice, but I get the impression that the Vigors only have a limited proxy DNS server, not a full DNS server.
I ended up running a DHCP/DNS server (dnsmasq) on my mail server which is a lot more flexible (and can be regularly updated for the latest security threats).
Downside is if my mail server goes down, I lose DNS. I'm still trying to work out how and if I can get dnsmasq to serve up a backup DNS server address from my ISP so I have some form of DNS service at least even if I lose the internal.

I'm not sure if what's being asked for is what I want. I use the static IP page lots - I'd like to see a field that displays the NetBIOS name of the device allocated a particular IP address as well as the MAC address of that device.
This feature is so good I no longer give static IP address to devices directly but do it via the Static IP address feature in the draytek. This enhancement would make it even easy to pick a printer or other device and lock down its IP address.

I am a bit disappoint to still be wating for this to be implemented.
As the USB NAS feature of the beta firmware looks very exiting but without dns lookup its not much use too me.
