Hi folks.

I've got a nice shiny 2920 in my hands. Arrived yesterday.

For wan1, I use an ethernet connection to a dsl modem, and run ppp0e over that.

For wan2, I use a 3g dongle. e169g I think.

This config works Ok if I have both set as 'always on'. Both will quickly connect.

However, I'm having some problems marking wan2 as 'active on demand'.

I'd like wan2 to connect if wan1 has been receiving more than 1000kb/s for 15 seconds.

So, I put in wan1 download exceeds 1000kbps.

I'm not so concerned about the upload speed. So I've tried values of 0 and 300.

However, nothing I can do will make wan2 connect. In fact, even hitting the 'dial ppp' from the status screen doesn't make wan2 connect again.

'wan2' will only connect again when I've set it back to 'always on' and then reboot the router.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Firstly, I'm not sure what value I should put for the upload speed when I only care about the download speed... and secondly, I'm not sure why I can't trigger wan2 to connect on demand at all.

I'm on firmware 3.3.2.3 which was shipped with the box yesterday.

Thanks for any insight!

I'm having the same kind of trouble with a Vigor 2929n I have set up the Wan1 port that is fine however I can't get it to connect using my Three 3G USB modem Huawie E122.

I have set up the 3G USB Modem connection as per the instructions http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/kb_vigor_3g.html the modem flashes green then blue to show it has found the 3G signal. However the 2920 just shows 'Message [ PPP Shutdown ]' under online status and 'Dial PPP' does nothing. I have tried the WAN2 connection set to Always On and Active On Demand but nothing seems to make it connect.

I Also have a Vigor 2820n and that works fine with the same modem along with my laptop.

I've found that I can get mine to work with 'always on', but I have to reboot the router before it does so. Just changing it from 'on demand' to 'always on' won't bring up the connection.

This may work for you too.

OK, that's good.

I'm confused about how the active on demand settings work. There appears to be one for tx speed and one for rx speed. If you only want the dial-up to happen when rx speed has been high on wan1, would you put 0 in tx speed and a value in rx speed? The manual doesn't help much with this.

I've talked to a UK engineer. He has re-produced the problem I was seeing and will get back to me if there is a fix.
