BT INFINITY REPLACEMENT HARDWARE was created by roy.p
Hello,

I have for some years used a Vigor 2820 router and I have now upgraded to BT infinity. What I want to know is there a Vigor router that replaces both the the BT products (homehub3 & box on the wall) but still gives me features of my Vigor 2820?

Thanks

Roy

Hello Roy,

The 2850 series of router supports a direct VDSL connection so you can do away with all of that nasty BT crap. It should be available from your favourite Draytek dealer.

Can you not just plug your WAN2 port into the box on the wall and configure it to PPPOE, thats all i do on any infinity connections, also means BT cant blame any User kit when the line goes wrong

We've take the White Infinity modem and plugged it into WAN2 of our 2820 - works well, and more reliably than the BT business hub

Works with multiple IPs too - useful since we have a block of them :)

From What I understand so far I can upgrade to the 2850 and do away with both the BT boxes (horrible home hub & box on wall) or I could keep the box on the wall and connect my existing 2820 :-) Think I will wait a month or 2 to see what the feedback for the 2850 is then upgrade :-)

I have the 2750n at the moment which replaces both boxes. I couldn't honestly recommend it at the moment as it seems to have issues bringing up the VDSL layer, others here have similar issues, but then again lots do not. It's a bit hit and miss. The biggest worry is the lack of support though.
