vigorpro 5510 with BT Infinity was created by itnchans
Hi All,

I'm a newbie here, looking for help and guidance. I have taken on a new client who has the following setup, BT Infinity, Vigorpro 5510, and SBS 2011 server. I was involved with unpacking and seting up the equipment to get client up and running. I have never setup a firewall before, and after contacting Draytek, they guided to get BT infinity, 5510 to talk so that the server was able to get onto the internet. The setup was then left in its default state.

All was fine until lately, the client keeps losing internet approx same time most days.

My problem is how do i get the 5510 properly configured to talk to BT infinity, and sbs 2011. I always get lost when it come to playing with IP address. Also the client has a fixed IP address supplier by BT, so want to know how to setup the vigorpro with this address.

Any pointer or instructions on configuration would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Hansraj

can anyone help with this.

BT ASDL modem, dhcp switched off, ip addr 192.168.1.254, static ip 8x.xx.xx.xx

SBS 2011, dhcp enabled, ip 192.168.2.254

Vigorpro 5510, dhcp switched off, The wan1 has access mode of static IP, with ip address of 192.168.1.200, sub mask 255.255.255.0, and gateway IP of 192.168.1.254.

Wan 2, enabled but don't know what to set it to.

In the LAN part, i have IP of 192.168.2.1, sub mask 255.255.255.0

With this setup, getting the occasional drop in internet.

As a new comer, I would appreciate any guidance in tidying up this configuration.

The modem and draytek router cannot run within the same subnet.

Change the modem to work on 192.168.10.* or something similar.

Hi,

This is wat i have now:-

BT infinity - default IP 192.168.1.254

Vigorpro:-
Wan 1 IP - 192.168.1.200
sub mask - 255.255.255.0
Gateway IP - 192.168.1.254
primary IP - 192.168.1.254

Wan 2 - Not configured

Lan 1st IP - 192.168.16.1
1st submask - 255.255.255.0

sbs 2011
IP 192.168.16.254
submask 255.255.255.0
def gateway 192.168.16.1
Pref DNS 192.168.16.254

PC assigned IP from sbs 2011

This configuration lasted a day, but pc started to lose connectivity again, yet i could remotely log onto the server. If there are and sbs users, i loved to hear from you. Still lost and confused why the Pc lose connectivity at random.

I would also like any feedback on how to configure WAN2, if WAN1 keep falling down.

Also, within this configuration whare do I setup the static IP address supplied by BT.?
