2860n modem crashing repeatedly was created by markab
Hello,

Over the past week my 2860n has started with an issue, when I try to put any bandwidth through the WAN (few web page loads or file download) it seems that the modem crashes, which in turn locks up the router which eventually restarts.

The only thing I can see in the syslog is before the router get stuck every time there are 2 EchoRep entries then around 7 seconds later the modem shows a resync this seems to be consistent every time.

WAN1 PPPoE <== Protocol:LCP(c021) EchoReq Identifier:0x04Magic Number: 0xf5c6 fd 81 00 00 00 00 ##
WAN1 PPPoE ==> Protocol:LCP(c021) EchoRep Identifier:0x04Magic Number: 0x0 00 00 00 00 00 00 ##

ADSL_Status:[Mode=17A States=SHOWTIME UpSpeed=12740000 DownSpeed=48472000 SNR=6 Atten=20 ]

At the moment the router is basically crippled when using the internal modem it drops within 20 seconds, I have switched WAN1 off and have connected a BT Infinity modem to WAN2 via Ethernet and this works with no problem.

Can you give me advice on this please, I have been using the 2820 modem for months with no issue. I am on firmware 3.7.3

Thanks,
Mark

when updated firmware to 3.7.3 (unless shipped with it) did you use *RST* file to clean possible previous firmware conflicts

No I don't think I did, however the current firmware has been running for a long time with out this issue which has only started in the last week.

i was reading around BT started already some FTTC cabinets & also of their openreach modem both with software updates ... perhaps for higher speed or for forthcoming vectoring ... not sure 100% ... may your issue is related with 3rd part modem at the moment

Same problem here on ADSL2+

Few users here in the forum reported updating the firmware, the issue was solved or by disabling the UPnP

I have the same issue with ADSL2+ with a 2760 which is wearing the same chipset as the 2860 ... i start believe is a chipset issue with ADSL2+ because i have seen this complain not from draytek user but others using different brand with the same chipset as 2860 & 2760 ... unless draytek can fix this with a fine tune in the driver
