Cannot logon to vigor 2800g was created by asda3521
I am using a vigor 2800g router and it has stopped logging me on to the Internet and network.
The first two lights on the router, ACT and QoS, are flashing constantly. The port light is on when connected with nic cable to my computer and the icon in the bottom LH corner of my computer says 'connected'.
Can anybody tell me what this means?
Is the router now usless ???

Thanks,

John C

It sounds like it's in firmware recovery mode. You'll need to flash some new firmware on using TFTP.

Hi Takeo_Ischi..

Thank you for your reply.

I didn't know that I could flash the router without being IN the router. I thought that I had to click on a link to accept the flash.
However, I have now managed to flash the router, and it seems to work OK.

Have you any idea why a normally working router would suddenly lose it's firmware ???

Many thanks,

John C

it could be a bad conflict in the firmware, a sudden power cut off, a lighting, not remember any other right now

Many thanks...

I think that the favourite will be a power cut. The client is in a very bad power cut area.

I would look at it not as, "Why has my normally working router suddenly broken?" but rather, "If I had a different brand of router I may not be able to recover it at all, phew".
