VI. Feature Setup
ExpiredSMS (Text messages) by Telnet with Vigor LTE routers
Vigor LTE routers with built-in 3G/4G/LTE interfaces are able to send and receive text messages (SMS). This can be performed via the web interface but also via telnet. Telnet is a command line facility, as opposed to the web interface. Telnet programs are available in all operating systems, often installed by default. The web interface is most friendly, but the telnet interface may be more useful if you wish to automate tasks or store messages off the router.
Note that SMS messages may incur charges on your mobile account; you should ensure that only authorised users have access, particularly as they might otherwise send premium messages which can be very costly.
Sending an SMS Message
Use the command 'wan lte send':
> wan lte send +441234558383 I am sending this text message
% Send [I am sending this text message] to [+441234558383].
> wan lte send +441234558123 Hello. This message is from my router!
% Send [Hello. This message is from my router!] to [+441234558123].
Reading Received Messages
You can list a single message or all stored messages with the syntax "wan lte read [<index>|all]". 'all' will list all messages, or enter an index number from 0 upwards for a single message:
>wan lte read all
