How to setup WAN and VPN alerts Email Notification on VigorACS Cloud standard and Premium subscriptions

This article demonstrates how to set up Mail Alerts with VigorACS, to notify the network administrator when a CPE's WAN or VPN interface has lost connection.

VigorACS Cloud Standard Accounts

The Cloud Standard subscription does not support user management and mail server setup, please send an email to technical support to setup a mail server for your VigorACS account and then continue with section B of this guide. Please provide the following information in your email;

    1. SMTP server address
    2. Security protocol of the server (none, SSL, TLS)
    3. Port
    4. Username
    5. Password
    6. Sender’s email address

VigorACS Cloud Premium Accounts

For Cloud Premium subscription users, follow the steps below to set up mail alerts for your connected DrayTek CPEs:

Section A: Configure the email address of the recipient

1. Go to [User] > [User Management] and click your user account.

2. On the edit page, enable the Email Notify option and type your email address. Then, press the Save button to keep the change.

Setup Mail server

Go to User >> Mail Server, select your user group and enter the mail server details. At Alarm levels tick Normal, Critical, Major, Minor, warning.
Click Send a test mail icon and type the mail address of the recipient. VigorACS would display the message if test mail sent successfully.

Section B: Configure and check the Alarm

  •  Select the CPE which you would like to monitor:
    WAN Alarm: Go to [CPE Configuration] > [WAN] > [Internet Access] and click one of the WAN interfaces which you would like to monitor. Enable the alarm and Save the Setting.

VPN Alarm: Go to [CPE Configuration]>[ VPN] > [LAN to LAN] and click one of the VPN tunnels which you would like to monitor. Enable the alarm and Save the Setting

2. Check the alarm log: We could check the drop event from the [Monitoring] > [Alarm]. When the service resume, the alarm will be cleared and moved to the History tab.

 Troubleshooting

Some SMTP servers will not allow unauthorized mail agents, you might need to use less secure settings to use Mail Alert Service. For Gmail, this can be adjusted at Account > Sign-in & security.
