Vigor 2760 Setup on ADSL/VDSL (DrayOS f/w 3.x.x)

This guide applies only to the DrayOS/Delight version of the Vigor 2760 series (models with firmware 3.x.x or later. For help on determining which version you have, see this guide.

Much of the router's configuration is preset by default to settings appropriate for the UK, however some ISPs do use different settings and you also need to enter your individual account details.

Understanding the 'WAN' Ports

Before you install the router, be clear about the different WAN (Internet) connectivity methods which the Vigor 2760 (DrayOS/Delight version) can support so that you follow the right instructions for your particular type of Internet connection:

Connection	Port	Details
ADSL/ADSL2+	WAN1 (RJ-11)	ADSL/ADSL2+ Service
VDSL2	WAN1 (RJ-11)	VDSL Service (FTTC/BT Infinity). Some ISPs (incorrectly) call this 'fibre' broadband (because it's delivered to the street cabinet by fibre!), but it's delivered to your home/office on regular copper wires (your phone line).
Ethernet	WAN2 (RJ-45)	If your Internet comes in via another modem or other RJ-45 connection you can use WAN2 instead of xDSL. If you enable WAN2, then it uses the LAN4 port to connect to the Internet device (leaving you with 3 LAN ports). This method may be suitable for connection to Virginmedia (cable) modems or satellite services.
3G/4G Modem	WAN3 (USB)	Using a compatible 3G/4G USB modem, you can use 3G/4G networks for your Internet connection, or as backup (failover) to your primary Internet connection. Check here for a list of compatible modems.

Hardware Installation

Please refer to the printed Quick Setup Guide for details of how to physically install the router and for an explanation of each of the ports and front panel LEDs.

Logging into the router

Your PC should be connected to one of the LAN ports on the router. You can also use wireless, in which case you must connect to the router's SSID ('DrayTek') already; the WPA2 password is printed on the underside of the router.

Open a web browser on your PC and type http://192.168.1.1.

The following prompt will ask for the router’s username and password. The default is “admin/admin” for Username/Password (you should change that at your earliest opportunity, from the system maintenance menu). Click Login to open the web user interface (WUI).

Note : Normally, your computer will get its IP address dynamically from the router (using ‘DHCP’), otherwise you must set the PCs IP address to be in the same IP subnet as the router (e.g. 192.168.1.2). The default IP address of the Vigor 2760 router is 192.168.1.1.

Now select the correct next part of this guide according to the WAN connection you have.

WAN1 - ADSL/VDSL

Configuring WAN1 for Internet Access

From the main router menu (left hand side), Select [WAN] > [General Setup]. The below menu will appear:

Click on the WAN1 link to open the following page:

The default settings should be connect for most ISPs; ensure that 'Enable' is set to Yes. Enter your ISP's name into the 'Display Name' box, e.g. 'BT' or 'Sky Broadband' and then click OK.

Next open the menu [WAN] > [Internet Access] as shown below:

Click the Details Page button for WAN1.

Depending on your your ISP, click either the PPPoE/PPPoA, MPoA/Static or Dynamic tab (see below):

The PPPoE/PPPoA tab and the default settings above are appropriate for nearly all ISPs in the UK.

Users in Ireland may have different settings requirements:
For VDSL/FTTC users may need a VLAN tag of 10 (configured from [WAN] > [General Setup] > WAN1 > VDSL: VLAN Tag Insertion) and for ADSL, use PPPoE/LLC with VPI/VCI settings of 8 and 35 (check with your ISP for the latest settings).

Sky Broadband is one ISP which does vary; it may use the DHCP method and require setting of the DHCP Option parameters; please refer to specific help guides if you are using Sky (or former O2/Be).

Enter the ISP’s name and username/password in the boxes shown at the top right of the above image.

Click OK to save. The router will restart to activate the settings and you should then be online to the Internet.

WAN2 - Ethernet

Configuring WAN2 for Internet Access

The WAN2 port supports connections where there is Ethernet presentation from the ISP supplied modem or Internet connection instead of xDSL. WAN2 uses the physical port normally designated as LAN4 leaving you with 3 LAN ports to use.

If WAN2 is used then WAN1 will be disabled and vice versa.

From the router's main menu (left hand side), open [WAN] > [General Setup] and this menu will appear:

Click the WAN2 link to open the following window:

Enable WAN2 (Enable: Yes), give the connection a display name (e.g. your ISP’s name) and click OK to save.

Open the menu [WAN] > [Internet Access]:

Click the Details Page button (as shown above) for WAN2. Depending on the information supplied by your ISP, select the PPPoE or Static or Dynamic IP tabs:

PPPoE:

For PPPoE, select Enable to select that connection mode and set your username and password. Click OK to save the settings and exit.

Static or Dynamic IP:

Select the Enable option to enable this connection type. Fill in the information provided by your ISP. If you are using DHCP, select Obtain an IP address automatically, for a Static IP address, select Specify an IP address and enter the IP address, Subnet Mask and Gateway IP Address. Click OK to continue.

The router will restart to activate the settings and you should then be online to the Internet. Remember that your Ethernet Internet feed/connection should be plugged into 'LAN Port 4' (which is now set to be 'WAN 2').

WAN3 - USB 3G/4G

Configuring WAN3 (USB 3G/4G) for Internet Access

WAN3 uses the USB port and an optional 3G/4G USB modem for your Internet connection, or as a backup (automatic failover) to your primary Internet connection. This requires a supported USB modem - click here for the latest list of compatible USB modems.

When configuring this connection type, please note that it operates as a Backup interface only; this allows it to work as a backup WAN interface if the active WAN interface on the router fails without any reconfiguration needed.
To use it as a primary internet connection, simply leave the WAN1 / WAN2 interfaces unconfigured / disconnected.
