That's interesting. I have a similar observation.

I don't think the problem is with the hardware used by Draytek but with the firmware. The 2865 (I can't find any data for 2866) and Fritzbox supplied by Zen (7530) seem to use the same Lantiq VRX518. Yet, like you, I also noticed how differently both Draytek and Fritzbox handle a connection, with the latter being more stable. As far as I know, the new FritzOS will further improve the interoperability with DSL lines.

Thanks for the corroboration re my experience. You mention a new Frtiz OS - has this ben released? I ask as my 7530 reports using 07.29 and "up to date"

It's in the final beta testing, as far as I remember. Its release is due by the end of Sept.
