3300v FXO port - basic guidance needed! was created by harrygibson
Hi,
I am setting up a Draytek 3300v which is fitted with a 4-port FXO card.
On the LAN behind the 3300v I am running a software "virtual" PBX - currently 3CX (http://www.3cx.com ) but I have also tried Axon (http://www.nch.com.au/pbx/index.html ). This software in turn has softphones running on the computers in the LAN as "extensions".
I have set up the FXO ports so that incoming calls from the PSTN ring through to the PBX and onto the extensions. This all seems to work fine. But I can't work out how to make outgoing calls. I think this is probably because I'm not understanding properly what I have to do to "request" the 3300v to make the call, but I can't find this documented ANYWHERE!
Say I want to call the PSTN phone number 01234 567890. I dial that in a softphone extension. This is then passed to the PBX software, which has an outgoing call plan set up so that numbers starting with 0 are routed to the draytek line I have set up. The 3300v has internal ip 192.168.0.1.
The PBX then requests to the 3300v: call sip:01234567890@192.168.0.1
But the 3300v responds 404 Not Found, and the call fails.
So my question is, how do I make the 3300v dial out that number? This must be easy but I CANNOT work it out!
If anyone can point me in the right direction I'll be very grateful!
Thanks,
Harry

Have you tried using advanced speed dial?
I have mine setup so that (for example) I can dial via my main phone system, either extensions on that system, or outside lines.
so:
Extension 316
prefix 316
what I dial from viop phone
strip 0
I dont want to alter the numbers
append 1005p316
what actually gets dialled on my setup
Outside number 01234 567890
prefix 755 --- random speed dial number that you associate with your desired number
strip 0
append 1005p9p01234 567890
my FXO port is 1005 and p puts a 3.5 second pause in order for the FXO to get its second dial ton, and the second p adds a pause after the 9 so the phone system can get its outside line befor dialling the 01234 number.
There is a very useful document on the draytek site, I may have the link somewhere.....
Regards
Paul

You are trying to treat the 3300V like a Trunk when it is really just an extension.
The answer is here:
