999 Calls over VOIP/Draytel was created by rossco555
Can I ask any Draytel staff who may be looking at this thread, to comment on the Register article to be found here...
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/09/15/voip_emergency_calls/
Quote fro the Register...
Providers of internet telephony must now allow emergency 999 calls over their networks or face the risk of enforcement action, regulator Ofcom has said. Caller location information must also be provided where technically feasible.
The new rule for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) providers came into force on Monday. It affects businesses such as BT, Vonage and Skype that offer services that connect VoIP calls to the public telephone network.
Many thanks..Rossco

Hi rossco555
Draytek has nothing to do with that: they're not a VoIP provider.
If you have your Draytek modem router configured to drive both VoIP and PSTN calls, you just need to set up the emergency numbers appropriately to use PSTN straight away.
On the 2820 the setting is in VoIP | DialPlan | PSTN Setup .

Thanks for the input, but my post was to any DRAYTEL staff that might have been looking on these threads, for their ideas. The Draytel site still does not list 999 call availability as an option in either the standard or silver tariff. As the Draytel site has no interactivity with its users, never mind a system status page, can you suggest where us Draytek users could get some answers?

ps....When you try and ring 999..a voice informs you that the account is not configured to make emergency calls!

Email reply received from Draytel today (7th Oct) as follows.....
Hello Rossco,
We do have access in place on our network infrastructure. A process is
being prepared so that users can activate access to 999 calls on their
account. Location information is required so that this can be passed
to the emergency services. This should be ready soon.
Regards,

DrayTEL do provide 999 access but you have to enter your location into the DrayTEL control panel, which seems to be a requirement from Oftel...although to be honest, I'm not sure Oftel have really thought this through....
