Setting up my sipgate account on a 2820Vn was created by deathlok
I have just installed a 2820Vn to replace my Zyxel 2602 as I am hoping to get a second connection via Virgin and give myself some resilency.
I also have a sipgate account which I had happily working on the Zyxel using my BT Diverse 3016 and a BT plug to RJ11 adapter.
Not having the same joy getting it to work on the 2820, I have checked and rechecked the settings as they are on the Zyxel and I have been to the sipgate website and checked my account settings and looked at their help section. Best they have is a 2600 set up guide, which I used and adapted to my 2820 but to no avail.
I'm fairly computer savvy but this is giving me a pain in the head if you'll excuse the mixed metaphors.
I have already googled and searched this forum, found a few pointers but they have not helped.
Can anyone help?
Many thanks.
Mark

Hi,
After reading through dozens if not hundreds of web pages looking for help with getting my sipgate account to work with my Draytek 2820vn, finally managed to piece the solution together.
This is if you have an analogue telephone connected to the BT socket on the Draytek supplied adapter going to your fxs1/fxs2 port on the router
First
Nat settings: Add a UDP forward on port 5060 to port 5060 and send it to the internal IP address of your router
Second
Set up your sipgate account as follows;
VOIP >> SIP Accounts and into Index 1 (assuming this is the first account)
Profile name: Whatever you want
Register via: Auto
SIP port: 5060
Domain/Realm: sipgate.co.uk
Proxy: 217.10.79.23 (will not work otherwise, trust me!)
Display Name: Whatever you want
Account number/Name: Sipgate account number
Check the box for authentication ID
Authentication ID: Sipgate account number
Password: Your sipgate account number password
Expiry time: 10 minutes
NAT Traversal: None
Ring port: Check the box which corresponds to which port you plugged your BT plug into
Ring pattern: Whatever you want
Third
VoIP >> Phone Settings
Select "Symmetric RTP"
RTP Port start: 16384
RTP Port end: 16482
RTP TOS: IP Precedence 5
Phone1 settings (under index 1)
SIP URL:your_sipgate_number@sipgate.co.uk :5060
Enable Call waiting and Call Transfer
Codec: G.711A
Packet size 20ms
Select "play dial tone only when account registered" (handy for knowing if you are registered when you pick up the phone to make a call)
Click the "Advanced" button
Tone Settings: UK
Caller ID type: FSK_ETSI(UK)
DTMF Mode: SIP INFO (nortel format)
I sincerely hope this helps anyone who is having the same problem I was. I am not actually at home yet, but I have high hopes this will now work.

Well it was very useful and extremely well written. 8)
Pity it didn't work for me!
I have set up a DrayTel account that is registered and I have a Siemens S685IP that has a working Sipgate account but no joy with my 2820Vn
Having said that I am wondering if it might have something to do with the port forwarding that at the moment points to the S685IP and not the 2820Vn...hmmm
Thanks & kind regards,
-=Glyn=-

OK...just tried forwarding Port 5060 to the router with no joy...
When you say under Third/Phone Settings/SIP URL:your_sipgate_number@sipgate.co.uk :5060 do you mean just the ACTUAL telephone number or the Login ID which has a leading number 5 in my case?
I have tried it both ways to no avail...
I have Sipgate working on my Siemens S685IP and also under Acrobits softphone on my iPhone but not on the DrayTek Viigor 2820Vn.
Anyone else have any ideas on how to get Sipgate registered with the 2820Vn?
Thanks & kind regards,
