Been using a Vigor BX2000 for a few years without issue, but 2 days ago the Internet connection (FTTP to PlusNet UK) started playing up. Streaming services were periodically interrupted and general connectivity was clearly not what it had been.

PlusNet support informed me that there was an apparent problem with Draytek routers that since about 21h30 on Sat. 22nd March would drop their connection every few minutes. Other service providers were also seeing the same problem which matched what I was seeing.

I later confirmed that in fact the Vigor was rebooting itself, hence the dropped connections. It was only able to run for a few minutes and then crash.

The firmware was 3.8.8.1 and I found that 3.9.1 was supposed to be current. I had downloaded it some time ago (it's not a new release) but clearly not got around to updating the Vigor and then forgotten about it. So today I updated to 3.9.1 and since then it has not crashed and restarted for over an hour now so fingers crossed.

However, I am no longer able to log in to the Vigor by name. Only IP address.

I run my own DNS and have handy names by which I can access local devices and 'router' is the name I assign to the Vigor. Previously I could browse to http://router (local domain automatically appended) and log in and access the Vigor's setup and management.

Since the update to 3.9.1 that no longer works and the browser just says it cannot open the page. If I instead use the IP address, I get the login prompt and can log in to gain full access.

The name 'router' still resolves to that exact IP address, so there's no external reason for it not to work. So it seems like the new firmware is blocking access (from the LAN) by name and only allowing by IP address.

I've been looking but cannot find anywhere that this restriction is set, but I'd like to disable it so I can access the Vigor by name. Anyone know where this is set?
