I know that's how it *should* work, but it's not.
I guess this issue only occurs when using a static WAN ip, and that using DHCP for the WAN would result in the correct situation (ie the router taking care of DNS for the LAN and forwarding all non-local DNS onto the WAN DNS server), but I have a static IP from my ISP, so that's not an option.
i doubt we'll see any update from Draytek on this until Tuesday due to the bank holiday (not a complaint, just pointing it out!) so I'll hang tight until then and post back as and when I have any update.

Yep just as i thought as well
Your client is getting the WAN DNS settings from OpenDNS
I too have a static WAN IP setup using MPoA and have the exact same issue
Will see what comes from this on Tuesday
I linked this thread in the support ticket

Wow... after a chunk of testing with one of Draytek's tech guys I've been told that this is working as intended, which I simply cannot believe. I've asked for a second opinion, but if this is indeed the case it's unlikely I'll be buying or recommending Drayek in future.

I too got the same reponse
It is by design...which i also find hard to belive becuase that means the DNS cache feature is not being used...so they are selling the router with false advertising
My bet is that this is a bug and they dont want to admit to it

I used forced DNS cacheing on an email server with static IP and not on a domain with a 2820 running stock 3.3.0 and it worked, I upgraded to 3.3.1.2_232201 and all the users started to get message delayed DNS not resolved notifications on every email they tried to send, so I resorted to using a public access DNS service that would work on either ISP WAN connection explicitly set on the email server.
I am uncertain if DNS cacheing fails completely or just fails returning MX records etc and only returns A records now. The system is live and in use all the time so I cannot just sit and play with it to find out exactly what is broken and what works in 3.3.1.2_232201.
Proper Router DNS cacheing is kind of essential when running Dual WAN over different ISP's as you cannot use one ISP's servers on the others WAN connection should the first WAN go down.

Really? - it's meant to work like that?!
I only noticed this because I always use OpenDNS instead of my ISP's dns - mainly because Virgin's DNS servers were crap - and I couldn't contact any of my internal machines and spent ages trying thinking they were buggered.....little hungover today....always check what you have just changed (new 2820 today)...fool
SO back to the point - yeah, when you enter custom DNS entries into the WAN settings it changes it in the LAN settings and then assigned them via DHCP to all your machines to use rather than your router - that makes no sense at all!! How are you meant to resolve names in your local area?
DrayTek - have a word. Who thought this change would make sense?
