Just ordered one of these to use with ISA Server 2006. Can the ADSL username/password be configured on this modem, or does it have to be done on the connected device?

as far as i know, its a pppoe to pppoa bridge and therefore you set the credentials on your isa

Can the sync speed be set at a maximum, like some Draytek routers?

I'm getting a couple of dropouts per day on PlusNet, and wonder if it's an unstable line.

check how far you are away from the exchange which will give you an idea of what you should be receiving. from there, you can judge whether your line is bad and take action.

Well the 120 shows i'm getting just under 8Mbps, but as said get a couple of dropouts so wouldn't mind dropping to say 5/6Mbps (or even 4Mbps) if I get a more stable line.

Distance is about 1.4 miles, though more than likely not length of cable.

whats the snr?
