Here's what Draytek UK support told me (in April 2010):

'I just received an email from R&D.They were testing the issue since you reported.
They say "As it uses " Name/Password Authentication Mechanism of Simple Bind" which is not
supported by AD, that's why we have problems with LDAP authentication when using
Windows Server. We'll look into this issue and fix it."'

So basically it's broken... although they were planning to fix it.

I contacted UK support again on 20 May 2010 and got the following response:

Hello,

I got the email from them & they say it should take month to resolve this problem but can't provide any specific date.

I'll contact Adam again now to see if they're any further forward. Please be aware that I was contacting regarding the V2955, although I believe LDAP in previous routers is implemented the same way.
