Vigor 2820Vn - causes slow BRAS profile was created by terryc
Hi,
I recently upgraded my ADSL modem from my trusted Vigor 2600W to new Vigor 2820Vn - to make better use of wireless networking.
However after using the 2820Vn for a few days we noticed our download speeds dropped from 3MB to 0.15 Mb.
1). Checked with my ISP (Zen internet) and they confirmed that the line speed has chanegd to the BRAS profile changing from adsl3500 to adsl135.

2). Performed speed tests on line over this period - speedtest.net

3). Both modems reported the same operating stats :-
Down speed (4544000)
Up speed (448000 )
SNR Margin (10.5)
loop att (20.0)
4). Have switched back to Vigor 2600w - and the line speed / BRAS profile reverted back to normal adsl3500 after couple of days.
5). Upgraded firmware of 2820Vn router to latest version on Draytek site
6). Reconnected new hardware (2820Vn) - and after a few hours use - return of slow download speeds and BRAS profile changed back to slow adsl135
As both modems are operating on the same wiring - it would seem that the 2820Vn is unhappy about something??
Has anybody else had similar experiences?
Thanks
Terry

mmm strange.
I've got a 2820vn which replaced a 2600v and I am too using Zen.
To be honest my 2820vn syncs much faster than the 2600 ever did.
I am several miles from my exchange and the best the 2600 ever managed was about 3500 while the 2820 syncs at 5300.
What modem code firmware did you try with the 2820?

Hi,
My normal speed has returned right now....
My current s/w config is :-
Model Name : Vigor2820Vn
Firmware Version : 3.3.2.1_232201
Build Date/Time : Jul 24 2009 16:48:40
ADSL Firmware Version : 232201_A Annex A
To help with fault finding, I am running a window on second screen showing the the online status of modem to check for errors when next fault occurs.
cheers
Terry

I had a stuck BRAS profile when I replaced my Netgear with a 2820vn and Zen sorted it :-
"Following the conversation we had on live support yesterday, a fault was raised on your behalf to BT Wholesale to run diagnostics on your line to fix what we believed to be a stuck BRAS profile. Following this your line is now in sync at 7968 with a line profile of 7000, up on the previous stuck 5000 profile."

Do you think it could be the same and do I need to speak to ZEN to raise a fault?
Thanks
Adam

Maybe try a different modem code instead?
If it's ADSL, this one might work better:
ftp://ftp.draytek.com/Vigor2820/Firmware/V3.3.2.1/Vigor2820%20V3.3.2.1%20AnnexA%20211801.zip
