Slow response from 2800VG was created by ntm1275
I have a 2800VG, and when on the internet, every page that I want to visit takes 15 to 20 seconds before it displays on the screen, however if I want to download something, I get my full download speed
I also have a Netgear DG834G as a spare, and if I use this router, the web pages display in about 1 to 2 seconds
The 2800VG feels like it is a dialup modem
I have done another test usingwww.speedtest.net (London server), and the ping with the 2800VG is 395ms, but with the Netgear it is 40ms, so I'm assuming it is this ping rate that is killing the 2800VG, as the download is showing over 7000kbs, and upload over 700kbps
Is this how all 2800VG's respond to requests for web pages (very slow), or does anybody have an idea on something in the configuration that is causing this problem
I love my 2800VG, as the configuration possibilities are fantastic, but I'm getting so frustrated with it I feel like throwing it out of the window
Any help would be much appreciated

update
For some reason 2 days ago, my 2800 is now working perfectly
It's got good ping rates and web pages are now opening fast
I have done absolutely nothing to it!!
I can't explain it

I'm seeing a similar issue on my 2710n - whenever I navigate to a new web page I get a 20s delay.
I get in on:-
Windows XP with Firefox 3.0
Ubuntu 9.10 with Firefox 3.5
If I replace my router with my old Belkin thing the issue goes away.
After doing some more investigation I think it's related to DNS lookups - I can reproduce it using the linux wget command:-
In this case, it took from 22:16:10 until 22:16:30 (= 20 secs) to get the page, of which only 0.004s was the download!
I ran it again but giving wget an IP address instead (so no DNS lookup):-
In this case it took from 22:24:57 to 22:24:57 (almost 0!) of which 0.003s was the download.
So the next question is - why does the DNS lookup take so long on both platforms? I can rule out any OS issues (does it in Windows and Linux) or browser issues (it does it in Firefox and wget). I can rule out ISP issues as it works fine with my old router....
Any ideas?

It's now back to it's normal slow response time
That brief period of about 1 week where it was fast, has gone
I am now back on my Netgear, which is far faster to respond
Does anybody out there have any idea as to why this is happening
If Draytek support read these forums, can you give me some pointers to a configuration change or anything else that can fix this
many thanks

I've figured it out
It's caused by the Web Content Filtering
Turn it on, and the response is slow
Turn it off, and the response is fast
