Turn off WAN1 on 2820n. was created by spudster
I'm getting a cable connection installed soon and it will be replacing my ADSL (8Mb) connection. I know I can turn WAN1 off in router config page, but I read somewhere that this doesn't stop the router from attempting to search WAN1 for an active connection.
Someone mentioned a telnet command to disable WAN1. Can anyone confirm this? I've never telneted into the router either, so any tips or help would be apprieciated.
Thanks,

It can be done with the command in telnet, which you can get to from the Run box, just type "telnet 192.168.1.1" for insance, it should ask for the password.
The command to enter at the telnet interface is "adsl idle" but it doesn't stay after a reboot. It'll stop the DSL light from blinking and it won't send out syslog messages for WAN1.
