NAT Loopback how to ? I need iPhones to locate mailserver was created by lukeglazebrook
Hello guys I hope some kind soul can assist me with this. While onsite local I need requests for my mail server URL to redirect to the mails server's IP not the outside world. In exactly the same way they work outside the network.
Hope that made sense?
In a nutshell I need local DNS requests forhttps://mydomain.homeip.net/owa to redirect to https://192.168.0.99/owa how can I achieve this? I believe this is referred to as NAT local loopback.

Does mydomain.homeip.net resolve to the public IP Address of your router? If so, setup a NAT Port Redirection on TCP port 443 and 80 to 192.168.0.99 . Make sure the router management ports have been changed from 443 and 80 to something else. This is set in the management setup.
ie. after changing the router http management port to 8080 you'll log into the router locally usinghttp://192.168.0.1:8080 rather than just http://192.168.0.1

prt forwarding has already been implemented mate it works fine outside the network. I am seeking a method of having the mydomain.homeip.net resolving internally to the host server.

I'm afraid the router can't help with that, as it acts as a DNS proxy so don't have a local cache or DNS entries.

Are you running your own DNS server internally? if so you just need to setup a new lookup zone for mydomain.homeip.net that resolves to 192.168.0.99
