Did you power cycle the CM after you cleared the MAC address and selected "Obtain an IP address automatically"? You need to. Some people also suggest power cycling the router as well so they are both off together. It should not be necessary but it won't harm. (If you plug the CM back directly to the PC, you will need to power cycle the CM again).

Hi NJH i have tried enabling the router to obtain the IP address and Mac Address , as soon as I do this I loose all connection on LAN.nilz38 wrote:

Yes I did power down the Modem and the router, but made no difference!!

Something seems very wrong here, but I can't put my finger on it. Can you post a screen dump of your set up?

yes I have disabled LAN 1 and all load balancing properties, also disabled the firewall to pass everything!! As I am setting this up for my brother in-law I have taken the router and linked this on my LAN, I shall send you the screen dump!!! of the current configuration
