My router drops the connection 2-3 times on one day - then runs ok for 2 days. The odd bit is that the download sync speed will be 1.8mb after one reboot then 3.5mb the next time.
Very annoying.
I asked Draytek for some guidance over the different flavours of annex firmware and basically I got told to experiment.
That's all good and well, but experimentation usually results in a dropped BRAS profile.

I run:
232201_A
With these stats:
ADSL Status Mode State Up Speed Down Speed SNR Margin Loop Att.
ADSL2+(G.992.5) SHOWTIME 975000 10615000 4 35
232201 was the best one I found to work anyway.

That SNR is very low, the usual minimum on an ADSL2+ line is 6dB, if anything changes that SNR occasionally, such as rain or cold weather or some other electrical issue then it makes sense that it would sync up at the lower speed for a while.

I had problems with the margin - I was on a 9dB profile following the shift to ADSL2+
I used to hold a 6dB till BTOR messed about - I since has the ISP reset it back to the default 6 and its been fine.
That post was at night I suspect, hence lower margin. It's not caused any problems yet, nor have I had a LOs event. When I do I suspect I'll end up on 9mbit sync on the 6dB profile.

Hi All,
I have come across this post as we to have been switched across to the 21CN ADSL2+ network on the 14th April and since that day our connection has been shambolic, BT have had numerous engineers out so I have always presumed its at there end otherwise they would tell me to go forth & multiply.
We finally got a lift & shift on the 5th June but the problems still occur. The 2820 router we use has the latest firmware (232201_A) and I have also tried the older firmware (211801_A) but its made little difference.
Have any of you guys changed router and if you have did the problems disappear ?
Our router currently has sync speed as 448000 (UP) & 6656000 (Down) with SNR at 8 & Loop Att. at 48. The speed tests vary from when its working very well (0.28 UP & 5.5 Down) to when its complete pants (0.02 UP & 0.30 Down).

I got a 2170n specificallty because my old router was dropping the odd connection after switching to ADSL2+. What a mistake. The 2170n will sync up at around in the 4000000-5000000 region and be fine for a while then give me capped speeds of 1mb (despite the sync not changing/connection not dropping), then go back to 3-5mb when it feels like it. ISP (Zen) insist it's not their problem. Looks like I'm going back to my old router.
