My ISP is ADSL24, and I've just upgraded to ADSL2+.

The upstream speed has gone up a little, but the downstream speed has gone down from the full 8Mb/s, which I was getting on standard ADSL to around 7.616Mb/s, as shown below:

The new service has been in operation for a few days now. So, my question is, can the 2820 go faster than this on ADSL2+, or is it some kind of system limitation?

You need to change the modulation to multimode, at the moment it looks like the router is forcing G.DMT (standard ADSL) as the modulation type

It should get a bit higher, but the SNR does look a little bit low for those line stats so I'd expect around 10-12mbps

Thanks very much for the reply. Right, it turns out that the router was already set to Multimode. So, I looked at what was available and there were I think 4 ADSL2/2+ modulation modes, and so I set the router to them one at at time, and it point-blank refused to sync up with any of them, so I think there may be a problem with the exchange equipment. I've reported this to ADSL24, but the tech support guy thinks it may be just a case of retraining...

Anyway, we'll see what happens on Monday, I guess.

When BT upgrade the exchanges they keep you on standard ADSL. You need to log into the ADSL24 web portal and regrade your line to ADSL2+.
