syslog over the net? was created by philrdrew
I am new to the forums but i've setup loads for draytek routers. I have loads of clients using draytek routers and i was wondering if syslog could be used over the internet. I can get it to work on a local network but not over the internet.
Does anyone know if this is possible?
Many thanks

Yes, no problem (used on 2800/2820). Make sure at the receiving end you've got the port open/forwarded to your syslog server.

I have tried that and i can see my local vigor but the two remote vigors are not showing. do i need to do something within the syslog app?
I did port forwarding not open ports if that helps.
Many thanks

Dunno then. You could check with wireshark to see if your application/firewall is duff/filtering?
Oh, and make sure you put IP addresses, not hostnames for the syslog server in the Drayteks.

SORTED!
I needed to forward both TCP and UDP ports to see them.
I only had TCP forwarded at the time.
Thanks for your help
