Hi
I have a 2820n along with a 120 modem for the 2nd WAN
I am wanting to try and monitor if and when the internet connection drops at any time
Can I do this through the smart monitor program or is ther any other suitable way
Ideally i would like to be able to access it remotely ...
Thanks in advance for any good advice

I believe the free version of Kiwi Syslog Server will let you forward specified log events by email. Just install it on a permanently powered-on pc/server and enable syslogging on the router. In Kiwi syslog server, configure the events that you want to be forwarded by email.
Of course - you won't get the email if the WAN connections are down!!

I'm not sure the Vigor120 does syslog because once in bridge mode, its own interface/WUI becomes invisible/transparent.

install a unix box with splunk and get the router to send syslog messages to the unix box.
then port forward the port the port splunk uses on the router.
you can then view the syslog messages via a web browser.
