Remote priniting issues across vpn was created by hmptec
Hello,

I have a vpn enabled between my two schools, both of which hav 2820n routers. VPN seems to work fine.

I want to map a printer across the two sites. Initially, I can ping the network address of the printer and access the web configuration page of the printer from the remote site.

However, as soon as I try and connect to the printer from the remote site, I lose connectivity to the printer and cannot ping it any more. Additionally, when I try and access the web configuration page, I get the error message "The requested Web page has been blocked by Application Enforcement (CSM)"

I subscribe to the commtouch web filtering system at both sites.

Please can anyone help? This is really causing problems for admin staff at my schools.

Thanks

A few people have mentioned that error when using the web filtering system.

Presumably, everything that goes through the WAN is going to be subject to filtering so you just need to allow the correct section to allow printing.

Any idea what the correct section might be?

Well for anyone who is interested, it is the 'chat' element of the commtouch firewall that was preventing the printer communicating across the VPN and producing the spurious message.

Flagged to Draytek as I can't disable chat forever!
