Used to have a 2800 wireless, loved the features but the ADSL and wireless left a lot to be desired ie constant disconnections of both. As I quite fancy being able to use a VPN
Have any of the latest models had these problems ironed out?

2820vn here. Never had any problems with disconnections but am on a good short line.
Have read that for longer poor lines that draytek aren't the best. If you have a long poor line get something else!

My line 1.76km sync at 7552 with my Singtel firmware BT2700HGV download speed is generally around 6.5meg
