Dear all,

I noticed that the 'NAT Active Sessions Table' seems to keep NAT sessions alive dispute the device being unplugged for a few minutes.

For example, I had a problem with my VoIP device and looked at the 'NAT Active Sessions Table' to see what was going on. I then unplugged the device and noticed that this did NOT free up the NAT address. I assumed that when the device was unplugged the table would clear out its details.

Am I missing something?

The router has a rather long TCP session time out which won't clear sessions as devices are disconnected, only when they time out.
You can change that through the telnet interface, the command is "portmaptime". If you don't know how to access the router's telnet interface or the commands, there's a telnet guide on the draytek UK downloads page.

Thank you for the reply. Much appreciated.

My current settings are as below:


Current setting

TCP Timeout : 86400 sec.
UDP Timeout : 180 sec.
IGMP Timeout : 10 sec.
TCP WWW Timeout: 60 sec.
TCP SYN Timeout: 60 sec.

So it looks like the TCP timeout is set to 24 hours.

Is that not a little excessive?

Possibly, but if you're seeing problems with NAT sessions on a VoIP thing, that'll usually be UDP traffic.
