Two routers on one network. was created by badhead
Hi,

I have a Draytek Vigor2710Vn ADSL router and a Draytek Vigor 2110n broadband router and I wish to join them together on one network.

I wish to do this to provide different levels of wireless security for different devices attached to my network. I want my computers to connect using WPA2. However, there are two devices on my network that can only connect using WEP.

I want to set the 2710Vn with WPA2 and the 2110n with WEP, and limit the connection to either router by using MAC addresses of each device to decided which one should use which router. I want all devices to connect to the internet.

Is this possble, and if how, how should I manage it?

Thank you in advance for all your advice.

Regards,
Jon.

Jon,

Need a bit more detail.

Do both of these routers have internet access or just the one?

The ADSL router (2710Vn) will be the only one with internet access.

I want the 2110n to use the 2710Vn routers internet access to enable the devices attached to it (the 2110n that is) to access the internet.

the 2710Vn has an address of 192.168.1.1, and the 2110n will have the address of 192.168.1.2. 192.168.1.1 will be the address of the default gateway.

Simply connect a lan socket on the 2110 to a lan socket on the 2710. The 2110 will effectively then be a access point and not a router. You should switch off dhcp and everything else you can, all this should be handled the 2710
