Hello all,

I finally took the plunge and bought a 2820 last week from fleabay and all working nicely now.

Couple of pointers for anyone else in the same boat.

Firmware updates: Trying to update the firmware from firefox generated a file not valid error when trying to upload the firmware to the router. This baffled me for a while and thought it might be a corrupt download. Swapping to Internet Explorer and the firmware update went through fine..

Initial sync rates and download speeds: The sync rate on the line was good, 22mbs or so, but download tests through speedtest.net were disappointing, but strangely pegged at about 8mbs which looked a little bit like a default to me. I am surmising now but imagine that as there was a change in the modem chipset being presented to the DSLAM(?) in the exchange it, the DSLAM, then goes through a bandwidth learning cycle again to find the best speeds based on this new chipset/device.

Speed test now reporting 18mbs or so.

ttfn.

Peter.
