I've got the *exact same setup as you and it works fine!

I'm on O2 Broadband LLU (ADSL2+) with a Dynamic IP and used the instructions online to configure the Vigor 120, following them to the letter:

• Connect the power adaptor to the Vigor 120 and turn it on.
• Connect an Ethernet cable directly from a PC to the Vigor 120.
• After a few moments, the PC should get an IP address (Most likely 192.168.2.10)
• In your web browser, access the Vigor 120's web interface at http://192.168.2.1 (192.168.1.1 if you are using a Vigor100/220)
• Go to the Internet Access menu and then click on the MPoA tab.
• Check that the settings are correct (VPI 0 /VCI 101/1483 Bridged LLC)
• You must now click the 'Enable' button on the MPoA tab.
• If you wish, you can also set the modulation mode (e.g. ADSL2+) but this is not necessary, it just makes it re-connect quicker.
• Do not select Annex M unless you definitely have that from your ISP.
• If you are unsure, leave the modulation at AUTO.
• Click OK and the Vigor 120 will save the settings and reboot.
• Connect the ADSL line cable to the Vigor 120.
• After a short while* your PC should then get a new IP address which will be the public IP address allocated by your ISP. If your ISP has allocated you with a fixed IP Address or a range of IP Addresses you should manually set this on the PC using the details they have provided for IP, Subnet Mask, G/W and DNS as the ISP will only allocate IP Addresses automatically to dynamic IP connections.
• You can now access the Internet normally



Before doing it I went into the O2 Wireless Box II (585v7) and checked the settings that it was using - they were G.992.5 annex A (I couldn't remember if I was on Annex A or Annex M) and then unplugged it to allow O2 to forget the MAC address of the 585v7 (it was probably about an hour before I then plugged in the Vigor 120).

Those instructions worked perfectly and my PC was now online, with its IP address being the public IP DHCP'd to me from O2.


Then I plugged the Vigor 120 into the Vigor 2920n instead of the PC, and plugged the PC into the 2920n. The PC was DHCP'd a local 192.168.1.* IP address and the 2920n's GUI was accessible on 192.168.1.1. The Quick Start Wizard was dead easy to follow and for selecting the Internet Access Mode on the relevant WAN port I selected "Static or Dynamic IP". As I'm on a Dynamic IP from O2 I didn't have to configure anything and just left it to "Obtain an IP address automatically" (I left Router Name & Domain Name blank).

That's it. In the Apple way it "Just worked". :P

Any queries just shout :).

With regards to firmware versions: I don't have a clue. Whatever was on them when I opened the box. :P


* - Assuming your on ADSL2 LLU not their 'Home Access' product, and Dynamic IP rather than static IP(s).

Errr it seems to that you're connecting directly to a pc which i already says works but doesn't if you connect it to a 2920.

Never got this to work. The 120 will give say my laptop an ip address and connect happily but plugging it in the 2920n the 2920 will not pick up an ip address.

Tried the same thing with my 2820 and this worked without any trouble so clearly the 120 and the 2920 just don't get on.

Decided to plug the 120 into my 2820 router on wan2 and it behaved exactly as the 2920 no physical connection.
