Nothing to see here - move along now!
Switching from ADSL to VDSL was created by rebel154
I am in the process of switching my broadband provider from BT Broadband to Ripwire who supply a VDSL2+ service using FTTC.
I am currently using a 2820n for both wireless and Ethernet connections.
The 'modem/router' supplied by Ripwire is a Cellpipe 7130 which has been configured as a 'bridge' and is completely locked down with no end user access at all. Presumably, the 7130 output would therefore be a direct connection to an external IP address (which could be either static or dynamic).
Can I use the output from the 7130 to feed into the WAN2 port of the 2820n and have full use of the 2820n DHCP/NAT/Firewall/Ports etc?
I am assuming that I would need to disable WAN1, enable WAN2 for Ethernet and then set up WAN2 on the "Internet Access" page (2nd tab) to use a dynamic IP address (or set it and the default gateway to the external IP address if static). On the LAN General Setup page, I would more or less leave things as they are at the moment regarding NAT and DHCP server?
I hope that all makes sense. Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions as to whether this set up will work or not.

How does a PC connected to the ripwire setup get it's IP? Is it standard DHCP? PPPoE?

I've been told by other users that it is DHCP.
I'll guess I'll find out whether my intended set-up will work when it goes live tomorrow sometime.

I'm not 100% but it looks to me like you go to
WAN >> Internet Access >> WAN2 >> Static or Dynamic IP
enable it then set it to "Obtain an IP address automatically".
Since your setup apparently allows you to DHCP an address frem a PC I doubt whether it need the Router or Domain Names filled in.
It looks like that agrees with what you thought.

Went live with new ISP on VDSL and it did indeed work as I envisaged.
Now have around 11Mb down and 5mb up vs 1.9 up and 0.3 down that I had with BT Broadband

Glad to hear it went well. By the way I found that the QoS settings had a big effect on speed tests when turned on. Particularly the WAN2 bandwidth settings.
