i've got exactly the same configuration, precisely. apart for the static routes, which haven't helped... so WTH...

know-dice, all the parameters are the same, so either my router is broken (which would seem unlikely, what kind of fault is that?) or there is something in the interplay with the zyxel modem.

Now you have the BT FTTC router, IIRC, when you had the zyxel did you use the same configuration for the 2130? You didnt had in bridge mode, but where were the fixed IP machines connected to? zyxel or 2130? and what was your MTU and LLC/VC stuff? I don't really think this can have the effect I am experiencing, but I am seriously running out of things to try...

thx. I sent a message to DrayTek UK tech support, I start to think there is something wrong with my hardware. The configuration seems alright, just like yours, yet it doesn't work in the most basic way: from a machine with static IP, I cannot even ping the router! That cannot be...

I logged in to the 2130, it's just a linux box, inspected the ARP table, there is no trace of anything but the IPs the 2130 has served itself...

Hi there. This seems to be solved. For future memory of the forum, the problem was that I listed the private IPs I wanted the router to route (viz 81.XXX.YYY.97 etc) as WAN IP aliases (in the list at WAN >> Internet Access >> WAN IP Aliases), and this prevented the router to route for them. Having removed that alias list, the rest of the configuration was spot on.

I discovered this accidentally, going through my IPs and noticing that some would work and some would not. I confirmed them with DrayTek's UK technical support. Here is their explanation:

WAN IP Aliases, that's a separate function from IP routing and IP
aliases over-ride IP routing.

IP routing is used when you want to assign the IP address directly to
a device behind the router, which avoids any NAT from the router.

WAN IP Alias is used when the device has an internal NATted address
and you want to use those additional addresses for DMZ / port
forwarding purposes.

The reason that you couldn't ping from .98 with that IP as an IP alias
is because the router would not consider that address to be available
in the pool of IP routed addresses as it is already assigned using IP
alias.
