2830n Wake on LAN was created by jonc
Hello all,

I recently purchased a 2830n to provide me with a stable ADSL2+ router that I didn't have to keep restarting/was more stable. In that respect, it delivers in buckets.

As a side issue, I noticed that it supports WOL and I seemed to find indications that it should support WOL over the internet.

WOL works fine from the router page (and sends a packet to my shut-down computer) and I can observe this being broadcast to port 2304 on my LAN. Having set up a static IP for my computer however, and opening ports 7->9 and 2304, WOL don't appear to be making it into the LAN (I've got wireshark listening on the ethernet). I've also telnetted into the router and run "wol fromWan on", to no avail.

So I have 2 questions:
1) Is there something extra that I need to do to get my router to forward WOL packets to my LAN.
2) Is there anything I can do to check whether the router is actually receiving the WOL packet from the internet (It's possible it's being blocked somewhere/by my ISP).

Many thanks,

Jon
