USB HDD not recognised on 2820 was created by glynh
I have had my DrayTek Vigor2820Vn for some years now and have never used the USB port for anything.

Today I plugged in a powered Iomega Prestige 2TB HDD but it is not recognised despite my rebooting both the HDD and the 2820

Might it be because the HDD is formatted NTFS?

When I plugged the drive into another PC it is indeed formatted NTFS but the only options when I go to format it is NTFS or exFAT...I am guessing no FAT32 because of the 2TB size of the disk?

The 2820 is running 3.3.3_232201 if that makes any difference...

Is there a secret to get it to work or is the Iomega Prestige 2TB Desktop USB HDD just not compatible with the DrayTek?

If it isn't is there a 2820/USB HDD compatability list anywhere or has anybody who has trodden this path before have any recommendations for a decent sized USB HDD that does work?

I guess the chances of DrayTek issuing an update for NTFS support for the 2820 series is slim to non-existent now that the 2830/2920 routers are out?

I have plugged a Lexar 8GB Flash Drive onto the 2820 USB port and that works so I am guessing NTFS issue?

Thanks & kind regards,

I am afraid it needs to be formated FAT to work, lots of others have had the same problem.

Thanks for the reply Howard...thought that might be the problem.

Wouldn't be happy formatting a drive this size with Fat32 even if I were able to do so under XP!

Down to DrayTek then but I won't be holding my breath...

Thanks & kind regards,

Format it as FAT32 from a DOS prompt and it will format fine. The 32 GB restriction from the Windows GUI is artificial.
