2820n upgrade didn't take? was created by robathome
Hi I am running a 2820n on 3.3.5.2_232201
As we ADSL2+ I thought I would upgrade it with v2820_v3352_2471201_A.zip - used the ALL file as usual.
Just applied that upgrade but the router is still showing 3.3.5.2_232201!

The router appeared to upgrade fine and asked to restart at the end. Has anyone else had problems with this upgrade?

regards
Rob

hello rob, the 2471201 section of the firmware denotes the modem code and is not actually a newer version of firmware. Unless you are using annex M or need particularly fast UPLOAD speeds then youre actually better off using 232201.

frag I would have expected the online status page to no longer show:
ADSL Information ( ADSL Firmware Version: 232201_A) but reflect the newer version as in previous upgrades?

In any case we are trying to cure a problem with regular and annoying disconnections from our nildram (talktalk) line that they can't help with and don't happen with a netgear router. Hence I will try any new firmware to cure this...

regards
Rob

Hi rob,

Yes the firmware shouldof changed the system status menu to show the new modem code, strange that it didn't.

In regards to your talk talk problem, trying a different modem code is definitely a good first step in getting it resolved. If the 2471201 firmware doesn't do it then try the one ending in 211801, this is a very robust modem code and is able to tolerate noiser lines without connection interruptions.

Thanks - I did it again and it now shows OK. So either a) it didn't work cos it's an idiot or b) it didn't work cos I am an idiot (and upgraded with old fw). My money's on b) at the moment!

Sometimes old firmware value is displayed, in browser cache after an update is applied.
