Hi,

There used to be a way to force the downstream speed when using ADSL using the telnet cli.

Now I'm on ADSL2+ (since March) but the router is now syncing at about 20Mbps but the uncorrected blocks are visibly going up all the time and the SNR has dropped whilst the Loop Attenuation has increased.

It works much better when synced at around 15/16 Mbps.

Is there any way I can force it on the 2800vg?

Yes you can, the modem in it has a facility to set the target SNR value, enter this in telnet:

adsl codinggain ?

to check the syntax, I can't remember which way round it works but I think that adsl codinggain 8 will give the lowest SNR and 1 will give the lowest target SNR, which should be what you're after.
