Hi there.

I am changing some of my network around in my house and moving away from powerline gigabit network. I have run a long cat5e cable and run a cable test on this cable which shows 1-8 pins looking good. However if I plug this cable into ports 1-5 (lan)on the 2955 then I dont get a connection. If I plug the cable into the second WAN port, I instantly get a connection. I have tried crossing one end of this cable and plug into the lan ports, still no connection.

So, whilst I am new to doing cabling, I am stlightly lost as to why I get a consistent connection everytime to the WAN port but not the lan ports. I am connecting a standard windows 7 pc to this 2955. The windows network icon constantly flashes connecting.... not connected.

Are the lan ports 1-5 auto mdix and could this be causing some issues? I have a server plugged straight into another of the ports using a straight through cable and that works fine on Gigabit connection.

I might be missing something really simple here, so please be gentle. Thanks.
