Set outgoing email to only use WAN1 was created by lplateandy
Hi,

Just about to set up WAN2 with a second ISP. (on Vigor2830)

Our users send/receive email independently and the outgoing SMTP seems to have to be the one provided by the relevant ISP.

Is there a way to set all outgoing email to only use WAN1?

The outgoing mail uses SMTP "mail.****.com" but the options for picking the WAN seem to be based on IP address?

Apologies if i've missed an obvious existing thread about this, i did try looking...

Thanks in advance

Andy

Hi Andy,

WAN > Load-Balance Policy >> Index 1 >> Start Destination Port 25 End Detination Port 25 WAN 1 with failover to the other wAN

would that do it?

Regards, Neal

Hi Neal,

Worked great - used the same approach for FTP (ports 20/21) to favour my new ISP Zen Internet. They seem to get me 75kb/s instead or the 35kb/s i was getting from BT...

Whilst i'm praising Zen, i also used this page to work out how to configure my ADSL router to run in "bridged mode" so that i can use PPPoE:
